The International Erosion Control Association (IECA) is pleased to announce Matt Welch, CPESC, CESSWI, technical and business development manager at Profile Products, has been elected the 2020-2022 board president for the IECA Great Lakes Chapter. He officially began his term on January 1, 2020.
“Matt’s experience, passion and ambition made him an excellent candidate for president, and we are excited to see how he will use his talents to advance our industry,” said Adam Dibble, IECA Region One board president. “We have confidence that his leadership will aid in the growth and development of the IECA Great Lakes Chapter and strengthen IECA as a whole.”
Welch has been a member of the IECA Great Lakes Chapter for six years and is currently a member of the IECA Region One Professional Development Committee. He holds a bachelor’s degree in conservation and environmental sciences, with an emphasis on land resources and soil science, from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
One of Welch’s initial goals for the Great Lakes Chapter is to reinvigorate participation and increase membership.
“Strengthening the IECA’s presence in this region will lead to enhanced regulation, compliance and overall awareness of the issues surrounding erosion and sedimentation,” Welch said. “As Region One of the IECA makes strides in achieving our vision to be the global resource for people who share a common concern for the prevention and control of erosion, it is important that the Great Lakes Chapter does its part and becomes a key contributor to those efforts. As president, I look forward to advancing this mission.”
